ABOUT ME

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a passion for helping my clients find a deep sense of happiness and connection within their relationships and themselves.

When working with me, you’ll find a therapist who is compassionate, down to earth and experienced at helping you overcome the challenges you’re facing, which means you can breathe a sigh of relief – you’re in the right place!

Am I the right therapist to help you?

Here’s what I can tell you about the clients I serve…

Some are high-achieving professionals – smart, conscientious and struggling with chronic stress or anxiety.

Others are working through a past trauma that continues to negatively impact their life and relationships.

Some are dealing with infidelity, contemplating separation or divorce, or just craving more connection and intimacy in their lives.

Others are teens or college students trying to cope with social anxiety or perfectionism.

And, some are navigating life transitions like empty-nesting, blending families, or being newly single again.

So, what can you expect from me?

I’m a natural born listener

But I offer much, much more than just a compassionate ear!

To help you create lasting, positive changes in your life and relationships, I take on a very collaborative role.

This means I’ll help you make sense of your past and how you got here, challenge and support you when you get stuck, and cheer you on as you make progress.

I also want you to know that therapy is a safe zone where you can talk about anything. Seriously, anything that’s troubling you. From sex, to relationship problems, to thoughts you’ve never spoken out loud to anyone before…and perhaps are afraid to.

Together, we’ll use the tools and guidance I provide to help you heal from the emotional pain and relationship stress you’re experiencing.

Which brings me to my superpower

I help individuals, couples and families get to the root cause of what’s really troubling them.

When you work with me, we’ll aim for lasting results…not just a temporary fix.

Together, we’ll identify the situations, thoughts and behavior patterns that need to be shifted to create relationships and a future you’re truly excited about.

We’ll also strengthen your emotional intelligence so that your emotions no longer have the power to confuse, overwhelm or scare you.

The result?

More self confidence.

More clarity.

More balance.

More peace.

More meaningful connection with others.

In a nutshell, you’ll feel much happier being you…which will in turn produce much more happiness in ALL your relationships, especially your most significant ones.

Therapy is for the brave

For some people, going to therapy can bring about feelings of shame, anxiety or failure.

But here’s the raw, honest truth: we are ALL works in progress.

We can’t possibly have all the answers to every single thing that comes up in our lives. Especially when it comes to the big, heavy stuff.

To admit you need help is incredibly courageous. Please know that!

It’s also incredibly wise, because it takes courage and wisdom to know when to reach out for support, so that you can reach your goals faster and with more ease.

Whether you come in on your own or with a partner or family member(s), all you need to bring to a session is a willingness to look at yourself honestly and to truly want change. For the rest, I’ll meet you wherever you’re at and we’ll make progress from there!

CREDENTIALS

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). I specialize in the treatment of relationship issues, trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to challenging life transitions. I also help people who are interested in personal growth and development.

I have completed training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), to help individuals heal attachment injuries and trauma as well as build secure relationships with others.

I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach for the treatment of trauma and anxiety.

I am a Level 1 Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) practitioner. AEDP is an excellent model for working with relational trauma and focuses on undoing aloneness and transformational change.

In addition, I am currently enrolled in the three-year Somatic Experiencing (SE) professional training program. Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach that helps people build capacity to regulate their nervous system and tolerate uncomfortable sensations and feelings with the goal of decreasing symptoms associated with trauma and other stress related disorders.

I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, which is the most empirically validated couples therapy model to date.

My clinical work is also informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

I grew up in Westport, CT, which I called home for 45 years. Would you believe there was a gas station, hardware store, and grocery store on Main Street? Things have definitely changed since I was a kid!

I lived in Japan for a year, sleeping on a futon, eating LOTS of rice and putting my Anthropology degree to good use.

I worked in television production for almost a decade and won a Daytime Emmy Award (Curious what for? Ask me!)

I have a Masters Degree from the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University. I love nature and animals, but therapy turned out to be my true calling.

And something a bit more personaI… I was adopted and raised as an only child. I found my biological family when I was in my late thirties and learned I had a full biological younger sister–I didn’t see that coming!

Kind words from my clients

“I am grateful everyday that I met you–words cannot truly express. Thank you again and again for all that you do and have done for us.”

“Thank you for helping me move beyond the dark place I would sink into and helping me to disprove the negative perception I had of myself. I am a happier person because of the work we did together, and I am closer to the husband my wife deserves.”

“You changed me from a person who was afraid and over-powered by their emotions, to a person who can recognize them and work with them….I would never have come this far with any other therapist.

Phew! You’ve made it to the end but it doesn’t have to end here.

Let’s connect with a free, 20-minute phone consultation.

It’s the first step in your journey to feeling better and living life fully.
